To me it doesn't get any better than this - my two long-time dreams have finally come true. I have my beautiful log cabin and I am spending my time quilting and working with people who share the same passion for quilting as I do. After retiring, I talked family and friends into helping me build a log cabin quilt shop on our acreage near the small town of Leonard, OK. In June 2005 construction had begun and around the same time two years later we officially opened for business.
While business started off fairly slow in the beginning it has continued to grow ever since. And as we all know very well, quilters are always willing to travel great distances to visit new quilt shops or quilting conventions. We have been blessed to have had quilt enthusiasts from all across the world visit the cabin, including Australia, China & Canada. Even quilting experts such as Eleanor Burns have made it out!
One of my favorite things about the cabin is the setting. Our cabin is not too far from the city, yet still far enough away to give it a country style feeling. Comments such as "It's so peaceful out here" and "What a wonderful place, can I move in?" are always such a pleasure to hear.
I do carry alot of traditional fabrics but I continue to branch out. Starting with only 200 bolts it has grown to over 1000 bolts at this time. Some of my brands include Moda, Red Rooster, Blank, Benartex, Windham, Maywood, Strada's P&B, Bali, Henry Glass, Cara Collection, Daiwabo and more! Along with expanding my fabrics I am also expanding my notions, books and pattern inventories.
If you or your stitch group plans on visiting please don't hesitate to give me a call - we will have coffee and cookies together!
